  • 5 Date Ideas for Valentine's Day

Don't you just love, love? Valentine's Day is quickly approaching and that means it's time to make plans if you haven't already. For those who are over the cliche date consisting of a romantic meal {complete with wine and roses, of course}, we've pulled together some out-of-the-box date ideas for a Valentine's Day to remember!

    1.  Restaurant Hop. This is a wonderful way to mix up your typical dinner date and check some places of your "restaurants to try" list. Choose three restaurants that you love or have been wanting to try. Start at one for drinks and appetizers, move on to the next for the main course, and end your night at the last place for dessert. It's the perfect adventure for the foodies!

    2.  Girl Night In.  For those who don't have a date next Friday, no need to fret! Host a party for your girlfriends complete with Valentine's Day favorites such as wine, party dresses, and sweets. And to up the ante, make it a jewelry exchange. Ask all your guests to get a pieces of jewelry {within a price range} and bring it to the party wrapped. Play the dice game or a game of your choice to exchange gifts.

    3.  Adrenaline Rush. Avoid the Valentine's Day crowds and get your blood pumping with a fun activity such as rock climbing, skiing, or hiking. They say experiencing an adrenaline rush with a special someone will spark passion and it's that what this day dedicated to love is all about?! If you time things just right, you could watch the sunset too - how romantic!

    4.  More the Merrier. Host a dinner with other couple friends. Put each pair in charge of a course of the meal. Someone brings the drinks, someone brings sides or appetizers, someone brings the main dish, and someone brings dessert. And after dinner, continue the fun with games such as Catch Phrase or Cards Against Humanity.

    5.  Seeing Stars. Look up your nearest observatory and go star gazing. It's a simple and romantic way to spend the evening. Follow up with a home cooked meal or pick up takeout to keep things low key.

  • Winter Whites

The 'no white after labor day' rule is a thing of the past and we couldn't be more on board with the overrule. White on white (and pretty much all neutrals) makes for a crisp and sophisticated look that can be put together with such ease. A white pencil skirt and turtleneck for the office or cream colored dress pants and a blouse are a few ways to wear this monochromatic trend. Here are some of our favorite winter whites to rock this winter:

    1. We know they aren't white, but tortoise shell glasses are so classic we couldn't leave this neutral accessory off the list. Don't wear glasses? No problem. No one needs to know they don't have a prescription!

    2. White nail polish is always a good idea. A sophisticated french manicure, a fun striped design, or a solid white manicure are just a few ways to incorporate wintery whites into your look aside from your outfit.

    3. You can never have too many white tees. They goe with just about anything, can be dressed up or down, and are appropriate for all seasons.

    4.  A neutral cream or white blouse is a staple that all women should have in their closet. It's right up there with a pair of black pumps, a trench coat, a pair of dark skinny jeans and a black blazer.

    5.  A pearl necklace is a classic accessory that will transition your look when it counts the most.

    6.  A chunky neutral sweater is a must in the winter months. You can wear it on the weekend with skinny jeans and riding boots, or pair it with a midi skirt for a stylish 9-5 look.

    Cold Weather Essentials

Being from the Midwest gives us some serious clout when it comes to knowing which products are a must in the cold winter months. Whether looking for an everyday coat, cozy weekend wear, or a cold-weather appropriate dinner date outfit, we've got you covered! Consider this our guide for staying warm while looking cool...

    1. Moisturizing skin routine. With harsh winter temperatures, comes dry skin. An ultra-moisturizing face routine is essential for protecting your skin. We love this Winter Glow set from the Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics collection. Not only does it keep your skin hydrated, it also leaves you with a radiant glow!
    2. Cozy weekend wear. What is warm, yet casual, and the perfect casual weekend piece? A cozy sweater! Knit, cashmere, wool, you name it - you can never have too many.
    3. Dinner date attire. You want to look your best without freezing your behind off, right? You can't go wrong with a chic leather midi skirt, tights, and a pair of killer pumps or trendy booties.
    4. Accessories. Scarves, mittens, gloves, and hats are a must! And with so many cute options out there, there is no excuse not to bundle up! Before going outside, grab a pair of leather gloves, a colorful beanie, or our personal fav, a lush fur snood!
    5. Everyday coat. Invest in a warm coat (or two, or three) this winter. As a piece that will be worn everyday for several months, you want to make sure you have a few options for different occasions.
    6. Cool nail polish. Each season call for new nail polish colors. Rich cabernet, midnight blue, and slate greg are some of our fav hues. We're seriously crushing on "French Quarter For Your Thoughts" by OPI at the moment!
  • What to Wear: Winter Date Night

    Winter Date Night

Whether it's a first date or the 15th date, finding the right outfit is no easy task. It's all about balance. The outfit should first and foremost be a reflection of you - be yourself! Sometimes the date will determine what you should wear (bowling or a sport outing calls for casual attire). But assuming you're meeting for dinner or drinks, you're typically safe with a dress, skirt, or cocktail pants. You want to look nice without over (or under) doing it. We pulled together a few pieces we love that when put together, create the perfect look for a winter date night!

    • Something sparkly. A bold statement necklace, a sequined clutch, or an arm party can make an outfit. The key is to not over do it.

    • Sweater dress. A casual and cute winter dress that can be dressed up or down. We love this dress in a bold cabernet color!

    • Leather jacket. A leather jacket perfectly complements a feminine dress or skirt and will give your look a touch or edge.
